22LR,(verified with a chamber cast using Cerrosafe) ruining the collector value of a beautiful little rifle.Īfter finishing the metalwork & having a skilled friend do the woodwork, I did some experimenting with it. 22 short, but someone decided that it needed to be opened up for. I re-built an old Winchester Low-Wall for a gent a few years back. 22's & you will find that rifles chambered in. Remember, accuracy will usually be "iffy" with shorts or anything else with a 29 gr. My back up hand pump wasn't that expensive either. Pellets, o-rings and silicone are pretty cheap. I also will not be subject to vagaries of the rimfire ammo manufacturing, distribution and "retail" industry. 17HMR works pretty well past my normal air rifle ranges. If I need to accurately hit something that is within rimfire ability but past practical air rifle energy/accuracy, along with consideration of collateral damage, my Savage. For now it seems to make more sense to use my air rifles at squirrel ranges. Fortunately my shooting buddy can fill my 60min SCBA tank to 4500psi with my C02 rifle as backup. I now have 3 PCP and one C02 air rifle, all 4 with aftermarket moderators. Finally got tired of trying to beat getting a suppressor and all the NFA rigamarole by using subsonic. Not that quiet especially when you want accuracy. I have a PWS action and PWS trigger mated to a GM 28" barrel. I have gone through this and still have on hand various subsonic rounds from Colibras, CB Shorts, CB Longs, and various subsonics.
